Bring Saida to Her Forever Home

Dear Friends of Heather,
As many of you know, Heather has been in the process of adopting a beautiful little girl, Saida, from Azerbaijan. Saida is now three years old, and has lived her entire life in an orphanage in Baku after being abandoned by her parents at birth, simply because she was born with a genetic abnormality. I am starting this campaign to help raise the final funds needed to bring Saida to Seattle, where her loving community is waiting for her.
Heather, as an adoptee herself, has always known she would adopt internationally. Her adoption journey began over a year ago, and has involved multiple home studies, interviews, medical and financial checks, and adoption classes. Additionally, Heather has already used most of her savings on adoption agency and attorney fees.
After a long wait, Heather has finally been notified that she has been approved to adopt Saida by the Azerbaijani government! She is thrilled! However, a final payment of $20,000 in adoption fees is due by August 5. At that point, she will travel to Azerbaijan to finalize the adoption and bring home her daughter!
We all know how expensive children can be, and Saida is likely to arrive with many special needs that will best be addressed here in Seattle (but may be expensive). As Heather is a single public school teacher, it is quite a difficult undertaking.
Please join me in helping Heather to bring Saida home with any donation you are able to make. Heather has always been so generous to her friends, family, students, and community, and I'd love to return some of that love.
Any additional funds raised will be used for travel expenses to Baku, Saida's medical fees, and to allow Heather to take some time off to bond with Saida when she arrives.
Any support will mean so much to Heather. She is hesitant to ask for help, but many friends have inquired about how they can offer support. Heather would also like to extend her deepest gratitude to her community for all of the encouraging words and support throughout this journey.
