Join us in making a difference at Buckingham Elementary School.
We are raising money to purchase an electric kiln for Buckingham's art program.
The Buckingham Elementary School arts program has been working with clay for many, many years. The kids love modeling with clay, taking a formless mass and transforming it into something spectacular. However, the air dry clay that BES students have been using does not withstand the test of time. These pieces are fragile, and often projects break while they are being painted. Or, worse, they break on the bus on the way home, before loved ones have even have the chance to see these magnificent works of art.
A kiln would allow students at BES to use wet modeling clay to create their projects. This clay forms pieces that are more durable once they have been fired in a kiln. More students will be able to take their projects home without fear of breaking them. Additionally, wet clay will give the art program more flexibility in what they can create with clay, broadening students’ imagination and confidence in their artistic abilities. Our students will have the opportunity to see their work turned into lasting pieces of art.
Our goal is to raise $3000 towards this effort. Please help your PTA leave a legacy for students and teachers at Buckingham to use for years to come.
The mission of the BES PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering our families, our teachers, and our community to advocate for all our children. We do this by supporting and speaking on behalf of children and youth in our school, in our community, and in governing bodies; assisting parents in developing skills to raise and protect their children; and encouraging parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
