Bring Mother & Kids Back Home

Donation protected
Natalia moved overseas with her family two years ago to support her husband's advancing career and to provide a better education for her 3 children, as she felt the educational needs of her children were not being adequately met in her home country.  Her husband convinced her that there were plentiful jobs with her professional qualifications, and so she decided to place her PhD and career on hold to support her family in their move.  However, the move proved to be incredibly challenging & disadvantageous.

It is important & relevant to state at this point that Natalia embraced Islam a few years ago and that this life-changing decision impacted negatively on her marriage.  Her husband resented her for becoming a Muslim.  He became financially, emotionally, verbally and physically abusive to her and the children.

She tried many avenues but was legally banned from working - as she was residing in the country as a dependent on her husband.  She could not leave the country with the children to secure employment back in her home country or elsewhere under penalty of prison (under the Hague Conventions of International Law designed to protect kids against child trafficking).

Unfortunately, the law worked against her as a mother. She feared for her children's lives and her own.  She secured pro bono legal help and was informed that she must have written legal permission from her husband to leave with the kids.  She has been protecting the kids and herself for 2 years without respite and limited resources.

Her husband has attempted to separate her from the children, and when she went up against him, he drained her finances, stopped buying food and hygiene products and told her that she should consider working in the sex industry  to provide for her children and herself.

At this point, she survived on charity by eating at local religious organizations and daily meditation and prayer.  She seldom left the house because she had no money for basic transport and was anxious to leave the children alone with her husband.

Currently, her only means of income is completing administrative work tasks for her husband that are time-intensive.  He pays her little and sometimes not at all.

Natalia has cared for family and friends her entire life, including her parents.  She is the kind of woman who gives anything she can to make sure her loved ones are secure.  Unfortunately, this experience in Asia has drained her resources & destroyed her career, and her elderly fixed-income parents cannot help her return home.

We are asking for your generous support at this time.

She has a window of opportunity to return home to the USA with the children.  She has secured a space with a university to re-join the Master of Library Science degree program.  She has 5 courses to complete during Spring and Summer 2018 that directly lead to employment, allowing her to escape her current situation and become self-sustainable, rebuild her dignity, regain her freedom and keep the kids safe.

Because of this agreement with the university, her husband has agreed to provide WRITTEN CONSENT for her and the children to leave Asia and return to the USA 1 January 2018 if she can pay tuition and basic expenses.

We are asking for funds to:
- Pay for the 1st-term tuition & books (2nd term is not
secured but she has applied for scholarships & work
       study).
- Secure transportation.
- Pay for food and basic supplies (all belongings must be
       left in Singapore).
- Cover rent for two months while securing
       employment.

She is hardworking and earnest.  Please help her regain the safety and control of her and her children's lives and return home.

Her pledge is to advocate for other women stuck, abused, alone and away from home in foreign countries and create an "underground railroad" of funding and legal support networks so no woman will suffer the indignities she and her children have.

We ask that you please keep this campaign confidential out of a safety concern for Natalia and the children.

Thank you tremendously!
