The Bay Area Jazz Society is hosting a Benefit fundraiser for Bay Area Music Critic, Lee Hildebrand on Thursday, May 24, 2018, 7 pm - 11 pm, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle, 410-14th St. , Oakland CA, 94612
Lee Hildebrand, recently suffered a stroke and we need your help to bring him home from Modesto, to Oakland! Lee is all alone; his wife left him since his stroke and he can no longer write or earn a living. Lee spent a lifetime using his writing talent and media resources to give the best of our local talent exposure in the local and national press and to propel the careers of many young dreamers.
From the mid sixties until his stroke, Lee featured many Bay Area artists in local & mainstream media. He spent the last two years writing for the Oakland Post and the San Francisco Chronicle. He spent 20 years writing for the Bay Guardian and also wrote for the Oakland Tribune. Lee was one of the founders of the East Bay Express.
Artists that have been contacted with planned appearances include Lenny Williams, Fay Carol, Rhonda Benin, Terry Odabi, Norman Connors, The Braxton Brothers and BAJAZZS Advisory Board Members Calvin Keys and Professor David Hardiman.
