Hi everyone, my name is Deliza. I’m a 26 year old mother fighting to regain full custody of my daughter, Keliza. I had her when I was 20, during a very difficult chapter of my life. At the time, I was in a domestic violence relationship and was tricked into signing over rights by my own father during a vulnerable time in my life. Despite the betrayal I used this time to provide myself with regaining my stability and worked to rebuild my life. Over time, I was allowed visitation and stayed involved as much as I could. One year after my daughter was born, I finally found the strength to leave that toxic relationship and start fresh. I moved, built a stable home with my current fiancé and our sons, and created the family environment I had always wanted not just for me, but for Keliza too. For the past three years, my daughter has been living and thriving in our home. My fiancé and I have raised her alongside our boys. I’ve been her primary caregiver and her mother in every way. But when I began taking steps to legally restore full custody, things took a difficult turn. Her grandfather started filing claims against me, and despite everything I’ve done for her, he has recently been awarded full custody. I’m heartbroken and confused. I don’t understand how this could happen after all the progress I’ve made not just for myself, but for my daughter. That’s why I’m here today.
