<div>A hospital is a lonely place to stay with cancer. Because many hospitalizations for cancer patients can be longer than others, it can be a scary, sad experience.

<div>The Zinnia Project was created by a patient who was hospitalized for 127 days while being treated for blood cancer and a bone marrow transplant. She learned first-hand that cancer patients need some special care items to make their stay more comfortable (including “Good” tissue, a chapstick, unscented lotions and soaps, a place to write down notes, a coloring project, messages of encouragement and more.) When she was finally released to come home, she started making and delivering large Patient Baskets with those items.

<div>Over the past 10 years, The Zinnia Project has grown into a privately run charitable program dedicated to delivering cheer to hospitalized cancer patients and their caregivers. Over 500 “Zinnia Baskets” have been delivered as well as 250 “mini Zinnies” (welcome kits for newly admitted patients) and hundreds of holiday gifts.
