Bring Jacqueline Murekatete to Leaders High School
Donation protected
We are 10th grade history teachers at Leaders High School, a small, performance-based public school in South Brooklyn. We are a Title 1 school, which means that more than 60% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch.
In the first semester, we will focus our studies on Rwanda; specifically its pre and post imperialist history, art and culture, the 1994 genocide, and the post genocide restorative justice accountability process.
To provide students with a meaningful and robust understanding of Rwanda, we would like to bring human rights activist, genocide survivor, and founder of the Genocide Survivors Foundation, Jacqueline Murekatete to speak to our 10th grade in late October.
Unfortunately, in this current climate, where school funding is being slashed, the school is not able to pay for this speaker. Please help us provide this amazing opportunity to our students!
