For 20+ years we’ve been fighting not just for the freedom of my father, H. Rap Brown/Imam Jamil, but also to prove his innocence. We are excited not only to have been able to accomplish one of these goals, but to be the closest we’ve ever been to accomplishing both! We believe we can bring the Imam home within the next 6-12 months but we need your help so please, give what you can as we make this last push for Freedom.
My Name is Kairi Al-Amin, son of Imam Jamil Al-Amin and before we go any further, on behalf of myself, my father and my family I would just like to say shukran/thank you . We have launched numerous campaigns over the last 20 years but the response to this one has been truly overwhelming and we would be remiss if we didn’t show our appreciation so again, shukran/thank you and insha Allah our efforts will not be in vain this time.
For 20 years we’ve pointed out all of the discrepancies and poked all of the holes in this case to no avail but Allah is the best of planners and He provided us with the circumstances that can free the Imam within the next 6-12 months.
These circumstances include:

The launching of the Fulton County Conviction Integrity Unit the purpose of which is to review and overturn faulty conviction based on evidence that wasn’t present in the original trial and/or misconduct by the District Attorney’s office that may have jeopardized the integrity of the conviction. Our case is currently being reviewed.
"As prosecutors, we have a legal obligation and an ethical mandate to protect the innocent by ensuring only the guilty are convicted for the crimes charged. Our responsibility to all citizens further requires us to seek to remedy any wrongful conviction of which we become aware.”

The language used by the 11th Circuit Federal Judge in his decision pointing to District Attorney misconduct in the pursuit of a guilty verdict.
“We regret that we cannot provide Mr. Al-Amin relief in the face of the prosecutorial misconduct that occurred at his trial. A prosecutor’s duty in a criminal proceeding is not to secure a conviction by any means, but to ensure that justice will prevail. The prosecutor at Al-Amin’s trial failed to live up to that duty.”
The current political climate surrounding the office of District Attorney in Fulton County. There will be a runoff election in August and Allah has allowed us to partner with a PAC (Politcal Action Committee) to help us use this timing as leverage in the decision making process for the Imam’s release.
We plan and Allah plans and surely Allah is the best of planners. Your donations will go toward furthering the reach of this campaign as well as transitioning into the next phase which is, Accountability via political action.
We will be running commercials for Local TV, national social media campaigns, political ads, producing merchandise and curating virtual events to continue to raise local and national awareness around this case while applying strategic pressure to those making the decision to ensure there is no more funny business. We have proven he is innocent, now we must bring the Imam home, Bismillah
