Guillermo & Isabel Perez were on a much needed vacation in Mexico when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. Their son Sabastian was at home when all of a sudden the water started coming into their home. Sabastian had no time to try and save anything in the home other than himself as the water was coming in at a rapid pace. Lucky, Sabastian was able to grab a back pack with a few things and left the home on foot in waste high water and walked to a safe zone.
Guillermo & Isabel were stuck in Mexico and could not get home due to the airports being closed, they felt so helpless. When they finally arrived back in Houston they were told that they could not re-enter their home as it was still under water. They live in the area where the city continued to release water into their neighborhood since they "were already flooded". The Mayor then shut off the power to the neighborhood only intensifying the situation. They finally were able to see their home this past Wednesday 9/6 and the storm hit 8/25, that's 13 days of a home being completely under water. They've lost everything and are staying with friends and family.
Guillermo & Isabel have been franchisees of Baskin Robbins for over 30 years and are the sincerest and most positive people that I know. They've managed to smile at times through this devastating time and really need help to re-build their lives. They lost their home, their means of transportation, and do not have flood insurance as they live in a non-flood zone area.
