Bring Home Bodey

Bodey is a little boy in a Chinese orphanage who needs a loving family. He has worked his way into a special place in the Mendez family’s hearts. Rachael will tell you she fell in love with Bodey the first time she laid eyes on his picture. She couldn’t help but notice the way Bodey’s little hand fanned out beside him as if supporting him in his upside down world. It was the same way her son Nicholas’s did when he was very small. Bodey, like Nicholas, has Down’s Syndrome.
The Mendez family feels called to adopt Bodey and give him the loving family he deserves. International adoption is a lengthy and expensive process. The entire process takes around a year and costs between 25 and 30 thousand dollars. The costs include:
● Travel to China including last minute one way airfare, lodging, and food
● Medical costs for Bodey including many weekly visits with specialists
● Homestudy to be able to adopt Bodey in the first place
● Donations to the orphanage
● Various Chinese and American legal fees
The sum of money needed to bring Bodey home is large. Let’s help the Mendez family raise the money they need to give Bodey a better, love filled life in their family. Let’s bring Bodey home!
I recently asked Rachael, "Why Bodey?" and she responded:
"There are two reasons: for Nicholas and for Bodey. Both children have had a rough start at life. Nicholas was born at 27 weeks and his survival was very uncertain for the first month. I didn’t get to hold him until he was 9 days old! And for Bodey, who has not yet had a go at life. Edgar and I are meant to be parents of 2, and we would not trade either child for the world.
I've lost sleep at night worrying about Nicholas’ future without a sibling to be there with him every step of the way. When neighbors grow up and move away, when he might not be able to hold down a job, when he has not learned how to play well with other children. If I give them each a brother, I can take away their loneliness and isolation.
I cannot stop dreaming about Bodey and all his potential. I know we have the power to change his future."
