This gofundme was started due to the overwhelming response from our community members wanting to contribute but unable to physically search for Eric. These funds will go towards printing posters, gas and food for the Search Teams on the ground.

Background:

Eric Cardeno is a 38-year old member of the Filipino community, living in New Westminster.

He has been missing since Friday, August 14 at 2AM. He was last seen at his apartment on Salter Street in the Queensborough area of New West, wearing a dark tank top and black basketball shorts. He is without his keys, wallet, phone or shoes. Eric is described as a quiet, introverted person with a friendly demeanor, and a solid and reliable member of his community. It is very out of the ordinary and out of character for him to disappear and run away from his family.

New Westminster Police and Coquitlam search and rescue have been mobilized to search the surrounding areas along the Fraser river and areas inaccessible to the public.

There is also an active mobilization of friends, family and community members who have been volunteering in search efforts since Saturday morning. People have been searching on foot, by bike, and further areas by car. We had 9 teams searching Queensborough, New Westminster and Annacis Island all Saturday. On Sunday streams of people turned up all day to help and searched New Westminster, up towards Burnaby, Annacis Island again, and west towards Richmond. Monday we expanded even further to North Vancouver, over to YVR and Richmond as well as Delta and Langley. There are even posters up as far as Kamloops. We have a search map updated live by hundreds of people actively searching for him throughout the lower mainland. There have been media reports on CTV, Global , OMNI, all over social media and posters are up all over the lower mainland.

Eric’s wife and family have been overwhelmed and grateful for all the outpouring of support and willingness of volunteers to keep searching. Eric’s presence has a far reach beyond his family and close friends. He is known in the community as DJ Wundrkut, a popular local DJ who teaches DJ and turntabling skills to kids and adults at Table Tutors DJ Academy. Some of his current and former students have come out to help.

We cannot speculate on the circumstances around his disappearances. Our primary concern is for his well-being and safe return.
