Bring Clean Water to Ghana

My name is Tiffany Rose Martinez. I am a junior at New York University double majoring in Global Public Health and Anthropology. I am thrilled to announce that this December I will be traveling to the Northern Region of Ghana as Field Representative for Saha Global for 3.5 weeks.
There are 2.5 million people, 40% of the population, in the Northern Region of Ghana alone lacking access to clean drinking water. People are CURRENTLY drinking fecally contaminated water. 25% children under the age of five are suffering from diarrhoeal disease, the third leading infectious killer worldwide, which is completely preventable.
Saha Global is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in rural communities to solve their village's need for clean water by providing low-cost business opportunities. They specifically teach the local women entrepreneurs water purification techniques using local products to make their community water sources safe to drink. The women then sell this water at an affordable price to the members of the community. 100% of the revenue from the water businesses stays in the community, and is managed by the women to cover the cost of the water treatment materials and to compensate the entrepreneurs for their work. For the past nine years, Saha Global has helped launch 100 water businesses, all which are still operating, that provide safe drinking water to 48,174 people.
As a Field Representative I will be responsible for educating the community about the importance of clean water, the water purification system, the system implementation and maintenance, as well as training local women to operate the water business.
The donation you will make will be paying for the cost of the treatment equipment, including large drums that will hold the water during various stages of the process, taps, chlorine tablets, etc. You will also be providing each household with a safe storage container that they will use to store the water they purchase to prevent re-contamination.
I have 2 months to reach my goal and I greatly appreciate any contribution you are able to make, a little bit goes a long way.
