Bring Clean Water to Cambodia

Access to clean water and basic sanitation should not be a luxury. Join us to bring Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs to remote villages in need in Cambodia.
Getting Water Right has been active in this remote area of Cambodia since 2014 and in 2018 completed a 6 month $80,000 program in 3 villages with great success. In 2020 our team undertook our holistic approach in three more villages. We need your help to fund the remaining 9 villages over the next 4 years. The $110,000 being raised here has enabled GWR to do the 2020 work and will provide 3 additional villages with access to clean water and improved sanitation and provide testing and education for the villages and each family therein.
In each village where we work, a holistic approach to bringing clean water includes collaboration with community leaders. Our work includes:
--Digging wells in villages to ensure a year round water supply
--Curtailing open defecation by supplying latrine materials and promoting self-help installation from the villagers
--Installing Bio Sand Water Filters in households
--Educating through health and hygiene promotion before, during and after installation
Our mission is to improve living conditions in 15 destitute villages in a remote region of Cambodia by providing a holistic solution to water and sanitation problems, and helping to break the cycle of poverty that traps the villagers.
Why do villages in Cambodia need a WASH program?
--Over 50% of the rural population Cambodia wide does not have access to safe drinking water
--20% of deaths of children under the age of five are due to waterborne disease
--An estimated 88% of all childhood illness is water related
