Help a Healing Hoodbaby Mama Turn Her New House into a Home 
 
Hey everyone, my name is Chandra — a Healing Hoodbaby, a wife, and a mama of five beautiful children… plus our two little tortoises who have been holding on with us through it all. 
 
I’m sharing our story with an open heart because we’re fighting for a fresh start, a stable home, and a real chance to breathe again before Christmas. 
 
️ Why We Left the Hood 
 
Our family had to leave our old place after an UNLAWFUL eviction. We tried to appeal because the home was falling apart — mold, broken fixtures, unsafe conditions — but the system failed us. We packed up everything we could, buckled our babies in, and left for safety. 
 
600 Days in a Hotel — Trying to Stay Strong 
 
We’ve been living in a hotel for almost 600 days. Six of us in one room — me, my husband, 4 children ages infant to tween (eldest lives with father temporarily), and our two tortoises. It’s been cramped, chaotic, and emotionally heavy, but we push through every day. 
 
My 4-year-old is autistic, nonverbal, and high-functioning. The tight space and constant transitions make things even harder for her. And I’m still nursing my 1-year-old, trying to give her stability in instability. 
 
We Hustle… But the System Keeps Saying No 
 
My husband works, but he doesn’t meet the “3x the rent” requirement landlords demand. We’ve been on multiple waitlists, applied everywhere we possibly could, and kept getting denied over and over again. 
 
So I hustle right beside him. I do gig work with my babies in tow — Uber Eats, DoorDash, Spark, Instacart. I pour into social media trying to create extra income. We do everything we can… but it still hasn’t been enough. 
 
While in the hotel, we have to pay for a storage unit and even are about to lose that in a few days with everything in it thats so important to my children, bc it is or was the only thing left of normalcy. 
 
Finally, a Chance! A Private Landlord Who Said YES‼️ 
 
We finally found a property from a private landlord — a husband and wife — who DON’T REQUIRE things that have always hindered us from the beginning. There's NO ❌ 3x income ❌ credit check ❌ background check ❌ application fees ❌ lease barriers 
 
Just FIRST MONTH’S RENT + security deposit. 
 
This is the first real opportunity we’ve had in almost two years… but the house was just listed, and it won’t last long. This is their ONLY property, and it’s truly a blessing in reach — we just have to come up with the funds. 
 
My Christmas Wish 
 
My babies have spent almost two Christmases in a hotel room. I’m praying this year is different. 
 
I want them to wake up in their own rooms. I want my autistic toddler to have space to regulate and feel safe. I want my husband to stop carrying the weight of feeling like he’s failing us, even though he’s fighting every day. I want to cook a meal in a real kitchen, not a hot plate. I want a home — peace, stability, and a new beginning.

UPDATE 

January 11th 2026 I was arrested for a 5year old warrant and a week later we got a new house and car !! we found a $30 couch from goodwill and most items in the home were donated or gifted to us via social media and freebie alert app. we still need things to help turn this house into a home and with your support I know we could have the house complete by the summer!
