Bring Benji Home from Hospital

Donation protected
Benji was involved in a car accident on the 28th December 2017.
He was the innocent victim as he was the passenger.
The vehicle he was in was overtaking another vehicle on a gravel road east of Jurien Bay. The vehicle turned into them as they overtook hitting them and causing their vehicle to roll 3 to 4 times.
Benji was ejected through the windscreen on the 1st rollover ( And yes he was wearing a seatbelt). This probably saved his life as his side of the vehicle was crushed in.
Benji sustained numerous injuries being multiple fractures in his neck and upper spine.
Fortunately none impinging on his spinal cord.
He also suffered a broken scapula, multiple broken ribs front and back. Broken upper leg and lower left leg where one bone was protruding from his upper leg above his knee.
He also has a blood clot in his lung which he is now on blood thinners for.
He has already had 2 operations on his leg with possibly 1 to 2 more to go. But these cannot be performed until his blood clot is sorted.
He is going to be stuck in hospital for quite sometime.
The Ocupational Therapist from the Northam Hospital has assessed our family home and the National Disabilities Insurance Service will only pay for the very basic needs as his disabilities aren’t permanent but they are long term.
Benji will be in a electric wheelchair for some time and needs access to the bathroom and toilet. Which at present are not suitable for him to access let alone use. It needs to be redesigned to allow him to use facilities that able bodied people use everyday. Without this access he will have to use a commode as a toilet and be picked up every second day to be transported to Northam Hospital for showers.
We would prefer he could shower by himself everyday and be able to sit on a toilet seat and flush his business away each time.
We will struggle with the journeys backwards and forwards to the hospital which will be an hour and a half drive everyday we visit. Along with parking fees that are charged on a daily basis. It’s going to be a stressful and expensive journey for us all.
This is a time in Benji's life where he needs to be cared for in the best possible way to enhance his recovery. Which is going to take many months of Rehab and visits to the hospital. Please assist us to make his journey to recovery just that little bit easier.
We as a family have in our lives helped many friends and family in their times of need.
It would be great if that could be returned during our time of need.
We thankyou  if you are able to help even as small as it may be.
