<div>Me llamo Mohammed, y <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lamesadebasima/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>La Mesa de Basima</strong></a><strong> </strong> nació de la pérdida, la memoria, la supervivencia y el amor.

<div>Hace casi dos años me mudé a España. Pero no me fui de mi país por el lujo de “empezar una nueva vida en el extranjero”. Me fui porque tuve que hacerlo. Dejé atrás mi casa, mi trabajo, mi gente, mi idioma, mi seguridad y todo lo que me era familiar, después de años de inestabilidad, cansancio y lucha por seguir adelante.

<div>Metí mi vida en dos maletas medio vacías y llegué a un país donde no hablaba el idioma, a una región lejos de todo y de todos los que conocía. Tuve que empezar de cero, no solo económicamente, sino también emocional, social y personalmente.

<div>En medio de esa soledad, volví al único lugar que siempre había tenido sentido para mí: la cocina.
</div>

<div><strong>La Mesa de Basima</strong> lleva el nombre de mi madre, Basima. Su cocina en Palestina nunca fue simplemente un lugar donde se preparaba comida. Era un lugar donde se recibía a la gente, donde se contaban historias, donde el amor se expresaba sin necesidad de muchas palabras y donde cada plato llevaba dentro memoria, paciencia y cuidado.

<div>Cuando me mudé a España, traje conmigo sus recetas. Pero, más que las recetas, traje la sensación de su mesa: el calor de sentirse acogido, la generosidad de los hogares palestinos, el olor de la comida cocinándose despacio y las historias que viven dentro de cada plato.

<div><strong>Así nació La Mesa de Basima.</strong>

</div>
<div>Al principio, empecé invitando a personas a mi propia casa en Gijón para vivir experiencias íntimas de cocina palestina. Durante unas horas, cocinamos juntos, hablamos, comemos y compartimos historias. No solo enseño a preparar comida palestina.

</div>
<div>Intento hacer que cada persona sienta lo que significa ser recibida en una casa palestina. Hemos llorado, hemos reído y hemos compartido esa montaña rusa emocional que puede ser una comida o una cena cuando se vive de verdad, con todo lo bueno y todo lo difícil.

<div>Comparto las recetas de mi madre, mis recuerdos personales, cómo encontré mi camino en la cocina, lo que significa vivir lejos de casa y cómo Palestina también puede entenderse a través de la comida, la hospitalidad, la familia y la conexión humana.

<div>Lo que empezó como un pequeño proyecto personal se convirtió en algo mucho más grande de lo que imaginaba.
</div>

</div>
<div>La gente venía por la comida, pero se quedaba por lo que sentía. Conectaban con las historias, con la calidez, con la honestidad y con la experiencia de descubrir Palestina más allá de las noticias, más allá de la política y más allá del dolor. La Mesa de Basima creció en Gijón, llegó después a Madrid, y ahora hay cada vez más interés desde otros lugares de España y de Europa.

<div><strong>Esta campaña no trata de financiar una idea que solo existe sobre el papel.</strong>

<div>Ahora estoy preparado para dar el siguiente paso: darle a este proyecto un hogar real y estable.

<div>El objetivo es hacer crecer <strong>La Mesa de Basima</strong> hasta convertirla en un pequeño espacio palestino de comida y cultura en Asturias: un lugar donde la gente pueda venir no solo a comer, sino también a vivir la hospitalidad palestina, cocinar en comunidad, escuchar historias y sentirse parte de una mesa que lleva dentro memoria, identidad y amor.

<div>Tu apoyo ayudará a cubrir los costes esenciales para construir bien este nuevo capítulo: equipamiento de cocina, almacenamiento, permisos, mobiliario, vajilla, montaje básico, imagen de marca, ingredientes para los primeros eventos y todas las necesidades prácticas para poder recibir a la gente de una forma segura, profesional y sostenible.

<div>Pero este proyecto no va solo de recibir apoyo. También va de devolverlo.

<div>A medida que La Mesa de Basima crezca, quiero que una parte de esta mesa siga estando arraigada en la generosidad. Por eso, mi intención es ofrecer comidas comunitarias, donar algunas comidas a personas que quizá no puedan permitirse la experiencia completa y crear pequeños regalos hechos a mano y gestos de agradecimiento para quienes apoyen este camino.

<div>No estás ayudando simplemente a abrir un espacio de comida. Estás ayudando a construir un hogar para la memoria palestina en España. Estás ayudando a preservar las recetas de mi madre. Estás ayudando a crear un lugar donde la gente pueda reunirse, cocinar, comer, escuchar y entender Palestina desde algo profundamente humano.

<div>La comida no lo soluciona todo. Pero, a veces, una mesa puede convertirse en un lugar de sanación, pertenencia y conexión.

<div>My name is Mohammed Njoum, and La Mesa de Basima was born from loss, memory, survival, and love.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Almost two years ago, I moved to Spain. But I did not move for the luxury of “starting a new life abroad.” I moved because I had to. I left behind my home, my work, my people, my language, my comfort, and everything familiar after years of instability, exhaustion, and trying to survive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I packed my life into two half-empty suitcases and arrived in a country where I did not speak the language, in a region far from everything and everyone I knew. I had to start again from zero — not only financially, but emotionally, socially, and personally.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In that loneliness, I found myself returning to the one place that always made sense to me: the kitchen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>La Mesa de Basima  is named after my mother, Basima. Her kitchen in Palestine was never just a place where food was prepared. It was a place where people were welcomed, where stories were told, where love was expressed without needing many words, and where every dish carried memory, patience, and care.
</div>

</div>
<div>When I moved to Spain, I carried her recipes with me. But more than the recipes, I carried the feeling of her table: the warmth of being hosted, the generosity of Palestinian homes, the smell of food being cooked slowly, and the stories that live inside every dish.
</div>

<div>That is how La Mesa de Basima began.
</div>

</div>
<div>At first, I invited people into my own place in Gijón for intimate Palestinian cooking experiences. For a few hours, we cook together, talk together, eat together, and share stories. I do not only teach people how to make Palestinian food. I try to make them feel what it means to be welcomed into a Palestinian home. We cried, we laughed and we shared that rollercoaster lunch/dinner at it's best and worst.

<div>I share my mother’s recipes, my personal memories, how I found my way into the kitchen, what it means to live far from home, and how Palestine can be understood through food, hospitality, family, and human connection.
</div>

<div>What started as a small personal project became something much bigger than I expected.
</div>

</div>
<div>People came for the food, but they stayed for the feeling. They connected with the stories, the warmth, the honesty, and the experience of discovering Palestine beyond the news, beyond politics, and beyond pain. La Mesa de Basima  grew in Gijón, then reached Madrid, and now there is growing interest from other parts of Spain and Europe.

<div>This campaign is not about funding an idea that only exists on paper.

<div>La Mesa de Basima already exists.

<div>The goal is to grow La Mesa de Basima into a small Palestinian food and cultural space in Asturias — a place where people can come not only to eat, but to experience Palestinian hospitality, cook together, hear stories, and feel part of a table that carries memory, identity, and love.

<div>Your support will help cover the essential costs needed to build this next chapter properly: kitchen equipment, storage, permits, furniture, tableware, basic setup, branding, ingredients for the first events, and the practical needs required to host people in a safe, professional, and sustainable way.

<div>As La Mesa de Basima grows, I want part of this table to remain rooted in generosity. That is why I plan to offer community meals, donate a number of meals to people who may not be able to afford the full experience, and create small handmade gifts and gestures of appreciation for the people who support this journey.
