These are my grandchildren, Dominic is 12 and Moses is 6, they were placed in foster care last week. Child services took them directly from school on Friday, by the time anyone finally returned my phone calls it was Monday morning and the boys were already placed into separate homes. They told me once they are placed it is harder to get them back, now it is a longer process.
We Urgently Need Your Help! Things are getting worse quickly, Dominic broke his arm yesterday and then was placed on a hold in a children’s mental facility last night because he tried to jump out of a window.
Moses is so sad and so tired and doesn’t understand why he can’t go home, he said there is so much yelling he can’t sleep, he was so confused and sad…he thought he was leaving with his mom after the visit, he said "he cries a lot at bedtime".
They both have medical needs and they will both need therapy. They are scared, traumatized, confused and do not understand what is happening or what will happen. The case managers said that they cannot leave the state due to pending criminal charges.
That means I need to go to Colorado to gain custody, as soon as possible. I cannot do this without your help. We will need an apartment, clothes and toys for the boys (everything was stolen), and all the basic necessities to set up a home. The apartments are very expensive there – in the $1,600 range for 3 bedrooms, they will want them in their own bedroom for safety reasons. We need at least 5 months rent to assure the courts we have a secure and stable home, I am in education and my pay won’t be until the end of September.
I am heartbroken and desperate. I am asking…begging, for donations that can help me to get my granbabies back and out of foster care. The sooner we can reach them and get them with our family, the sooner they can begin to heal. With you help, we will be able to get them the care they need and with the people who love them.
