While on a short hike in Western Uganda, I met someone I can now call a friend—Bannet. He was very welcoming and was eager to show me the compound he had helped create together with his father and mother.
What I didn’t realize at first was the depth of the story behind this place. Bannet’s father, who had been a driving force in creating this orphanage, sadly passed away, leaving behind not only his family but also the many children he had devoted his life to helping. Now, with his mother battling illness, much of the responsibility has fallen on Bannet’s shoulders.
Despite these hardships, he continues his father’s mission with dedication—providing a home, food, and education for orphaned and vulnerable children in the community. That said, running the orphanage comes with its difficulties. Resources are limited, medical care for his mother is expensive, and the orphanage faces ongoing challenges in covering basic needs and rent.
Yet, even in the face of adversity, there is so much love and hope here. The children, who have lost so much, still greet each day with bright smiles and laughter. They believe in a better future.
That’s why I’m reaching out. Bannet and his family have done so much with so little, but at the moment they need some external support. With your support, we can help keep this orphanage running, provide food and education for the children, and ensure Bannet’s mother gets the care she needs.
If this story resonates with you, I’d love for you to share it with others who might want to support. Spreading the word can make a huge difference in helping Bannet continue the work his father started and provide for the children in his care. And if you feel inspired to contribute, any amount would be truly appreciated.
Thank you
