Brighter Days for Sou!

Donation protected
When Sou was 18, she had a stroke and it affected her kidneys. She was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) in 2011 and she was devastated. She has fought a long battle with her health going through daily dialysis treatments, being on strict diets, and not being able to fully enjoy life.

Aside from dealing with her constant struggle to survive, Sou started nursing school because she enjoyed helping and caring for others. School was very difficult during this time but she took her challenges in stride, dealing with her chronic illness and navigating through nursing school. It was difficult having to deal with the stresses of school while having to spend many hours every week for her dialysis treatments. During this journey, Sou managed to graduate from nursing school, and become a nurse. Sou’s dialysis treatments have inspired her to become a dialysis nurse in order to care for and mentor patients who are also receiving dialysis treatments. She has always been selfless and puts others before herself. She comforts patients with witty jokes, empathy, compassion, and even makes the best cookies from scratch :)

Sou is also involved in helping to educate and provide information for underprivileged communities. She takes time to continue learning and trying to educate herself with the most up-to-date information in order to provide the best possible care and information. She is always laughing and smiling with everyone regardless of her daily battle. She has helped support and comfort thousands of other dialysis patients like herself.

We had been praying that she receive a kidney transplant to finally give her a chance to live fully and continue her dream of helping others. Finally on June 8, 2017, our prayers were answered when she received a phone call from Mayo Clinic stating that she had received a kidney from a donor.

Still paying for her school expenses and her student loans, Sou is in need of financial assistance to help ease the costs of her medical expenses. She currently lives in Los Angeles and has travelled out of state for a kidney transplant in Arizona on June 9th. A kidney transplant is a very long process that involves transportation, constant ongoing screening, surgery, medical care, follow up, lifelong medications and the cost of living and recovering all while out of state. Sou is taking a medical leave from work and unfortunately, will have limited income in these next few months on her road to recovery.  She is very eager to get her life back on track. Please help us alleviate the costs of her medical expenses in order to help her start living the life she deserves!
