Zimbabwe has suffered an economic downward spiral since 2000 with widespread poverty, a 95% unemployment rate, cash crisis, rampant child labor, rapid increase in mortality rate due to HIV/AIDS leaving a number of children orphaned and homeless, vulnerable and exposed to anti-social activities. These children become involved in early childhood marriages, prostitution, drug abuse, street crime and participation in other criminal activities. Therefore these children fail to get the financial support they deserve hence failing to cater even to their most basic needs. In response, we built the Bridge School, which is still work in progress.
Everyday children are arriving on its doorstep seeking education — specifically, free education, jobs, or basic necessities like warm food. We do not want to turn away any of these children due to lack of room, we therefore request for urgent donations to help us shelter 100 more children before the start of the next school year (January 2018).
Half of its students receive free education, housing/boarding, food, uniforms, school supplies, sanitary supplies, toiletry while the other half (students coming from rich families) pay tuition fee which is used to purchase food and other school materials. Students grow some of their food in the school's greenhouses, take culinary classes, and learn to develop solutions for the local problem of unclean drinking water, energy and sanitation.
Our mission is to bridge educational and socio-economic gaps between the rich and poor, the West and the East, as well as to reduce the cycle of poverty through empowering and educating marginalized children, thereby establishing financial independence. In addition to the local curriculum, we intergrated technology in our classrooms something that is only available in schools for the rich in Zimbabwe and in developed countries. In these children we see future leaders and problem solvers who will develop Zimbabwe and beyond. We have already made a big difference in a good amount of children (65 students) and provided employment to 22 people since we started in January 2017 and we know that with the help of all the generous people who want to make an impact in the lives of children, we CAN do more. We strongly appeal for your financial support to see us through this newly established project. We believe that if we get an unwavering financial backbone, our project will expand beyond borders and will save the desperate souls suffering during these harsh economic conditions in Zimbabwe, and eventually, beyond.
All levels of donations are welcome; $10 buys a bag of cement in Zimbabwe. Our newly established foundation Bridge Innovative Education Foundation EIN: 82-2757887( still in the process for 501(c) 3 status) will handle all the funds and will email updates to all the generous people who donate as the project progress so you know where every single dollar went.
Let us share our wealth for the joy of these children!
Please help us make better memories in these children's lives. We, and they, will forever be grateful.
Make sure you take a moment to view a video made by our students that shows what has so far been accomplished and the joyful faces of current students.
