My name is Bri and I am a 20 year old medical imaging student/cafe manager/aspiring singer
My passion is performing and I love nothing more than sharing my talent with those around me(hopefully one day I'll get to share this with the masses and release an album)
I have an incredible family and partner.
Mum, dad, my partner, my little brother and especially my twin are my biggest supports in all that I do. All of this has been put on hold however, because in August of 2017 I began experiencing dizziness, fainting, nausea, double vision, loss of balance,weight loss and numbness in my limbs.
After countless visits to a gp who couldn't provide answers and those around me suggesting this was the result of being stressed, tired or unfit I was at wits end
In September I began experiencing pain in my chest and shooting pain down my arms and continued numbness/dizziness. This prompted a quick dash to the hospital.
Scans in hospital revealed that my thymus gland was still present (this is meant to involuted/disappear after puberty) which is indicative of thymoma- a tumour of the thymus
And may potentially be the result of a more significant condition, myasthenia gravis or may potentially be malignant
The only way to determine what this tumour is would be to undergo invasive surgery that involves a large incision down my chest and the breaking of my sternum to extract this structure. This involves months of recovery
A biopsy will take place to determine the nature of the tumour and the course of action from there.
As my partner has to be away for family reasons I am struggling with living expenses and how I will pay for flights/doctors visits/time away from work over the coming months
