Brian's Medical Expenses

Hi. My name is Amy. My husband and I have been together since 1997. We have never been ones to ask for handouts but since 2006 we have been funding medical bills on one income. In 2006, Brian  began having extreme fatigue and shortness of breath. Thinking this would be a quick trip to the doctor for an inhaler, or some quick fix, we made an appointment. After many tests and multiple doctors, Brian was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera, and Hemachromatosis. These are both blood conditions. Polycythemia basically means he produces too many red blood cells. These get bogged down in the arteries when trying to provide his body with oxygenated blood. Hemachromatosis is a genetic disorder that (instead of excreting excess iron) stores extra iron your body doesn't use into a few vital organs such as heart, liver, and gonads.  These are both ongoing and non-curable conditions. He goes every few months and has blood drained from his body to ensure his blood doesn't get too thick and to keep iron levels under control. This sounds rough I know, but Brian also has multiple other conditions. He has since been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (where he spent countless days in the hospital with bleeding) and now receives a chemotherapy infusion every 8 weeks to keep this condition under control.  He's had an infusaport placed (a device in his chest as alternative to getting an IV  for each infusion)  to make these treatments easier. As time goes by more and more conditions arise and more and more bills arrive in the mail. Brian's body just seems to be breaking down. He has an autoimmune disorder in addition to an array of other conditions. Diabetes, joint issues (requiring multiple surgeries),  hypertension, low testosterone, fibromyalgia, kidney problems, liver problems, vascular problems, and a skin issue. But as you noticed, no depression! He's a fighter! I've never seen anything like it. He keeps on going through it all, no matter what! He takes 37 pills daily! These medications basically make his day tolerable! Brian is 41 years old. His primary care physician says his body (on the inside) is that of a man twice his age! He is constantly going to appointments, tests, procedures, labs, or a surgery (of which he has had a total of 21 since 2006).  As you can imagine all of these ongoing treatments, surgeries, medications, etc. are not cheap to say the least! His condition will only get worse. There is no cure in sight. The expenses will only continue to increase. We have come to the point where we are now asking for assistance. Please Help!
