Help for Brian Barnes and Family

Brian is a fighter! He has never faced a challenge he could not overcome. Because he possessess a resilient charactersistic, he has remained strong and prayerful throughout his current condition. Despite the circumstances, he still manages to smile and be thankful for God's grace because things could have been more disastrous.
Life as Brian knew it, changed one early Saturday morning. It was August 17, 2013 when he was a victim of violence that took place in the city limits of Laurel, MS. While among friends, an altercation transpired and led to Brian being struck with two bullets. One of the bullets is still lodged in the neck muscle close to his chipped spine. This caused him to lose feeling and mobility from the chest down. He is now considered a quadriplegic. His injury is at the C4/C5 level which has caused him to have respiratory issues. He was on the ventilator because doctors said he'd need it for the rest of his life. They ended up weaning him off and moving on to have a tracheostomy to help with muscus secretions which came along with troubled breathing. Once the trach was inserted, the doctor's said he'd definitely need this for the rest of his life. Well, surely enough Brian proved them wrong. He had the trach taken out less than four months after the injury. He's had many other procedures i.e. permanent pacemaker, chest tubes, inferior vena cava filter placed, etc.
Brian spent a month in the hospital and was then discharged to a nursing home when he received care. The nursing home was his residence for two and a half months until he received the opprtunity to go to Methodist Rehab in Jackson, MS. He only received two weeks of rehabilitation because that is all his insurance would cover. This short stay was disappointing. Although he was only there for two weeks, we all saw improvement and his spirits were immediately lifted when he got into a wheelchair for the first time. He will love to get the opprtunity to go again to therapy and that is a big part of this fundraiser. Also, the funds can help purchase equipment, make home modifications that are needed and that cannot be provided by insurance or any other agency. Since he has been home, it has been a life changing event for not only Brian, but also for his entire family. While I do have a full time job, it's difficult to keep up with bills, duties of the home, and have five people depending on me. We would appreciate any donation to assist with so many things that I can not begin to list.

HAVE A BLESSED AND PROSPEROUS DAY !!!
