Brian's cancer journey

Donation protected

I am asking for your help for my Dad, Brian to lessen the financial burden he is experiencing as he undergoes treatment.

New Years Eve my Dad went to the hospital after battling severe pain that would come and go. He spent three nights as they performed numerous tests. They found swelling where his small intestine meets his large intestine but could not see what the actual problem was as there was so much swelling. He was put on antibiotics for several months, was battling nausea, pain, and more. He was physically unable to return to work.

The beginning of March he had a colonoscopy and he was given the news no one wants to hear: it's colon cancer. Dad had surgery on April 1st and they removed a tumor that was as "hard as concrete" the size of a football, and took a foot of his colon.  They were hoping to do things laprascopically but were not able to do so. Dad spent 5 days in the hospital with no visitors, thanks to Covid-19.  Physically recovering from the surgery was very challenging both mentally and physically.  Anyone who knows my Dad, knows that he is a fighter. He is strong and determined.

One week later he had his follow up results, and his surgeon told him the tests showed he was a walking miracle. He is cancer free!! Let me tell you, we believe in the power of positivity and miracles at this point!! As wonderful and amazing as this news was, his road does not end here. My dad is undergoing intense chemo treatments for six months. He has lost a lot of weight, he's absolutely exhausted, can't tolerate anything cold, has shortness of breath, severe nausea and more.

To add even more to my Dad's plate, he found himself back in the ER the end of May, with intense chest/shoulder pain. It turns out he has a blood clot on each lung!! This means two self administered injections in the stomach, twice daily for anywhere from 6-12 months. This means shortness of breath and chest pain.

Now, as if all of this isn't enough, my Dad's car has lost it's power steering pump. Dad has been out of work since New Years Eve. He is just starting long term disability, and has to pay cobra out of his pocket. He has been out of work since New Years Eve. He can't possibly pay his bills and survive off of this. He needs a vehicle as he sees his oncologist twice one week, once the next, alternating for the rest of his chemo treatments.

My Dad has worked so hard since he was young.  He was a well respected manager, hard working employee always willing to go the extra mile. He is a wonderful father, friend, Grampy and human. He would never ask for help but is absolutely deserving of it.  Always willing to help others. Please if you are able, anything helps. I want my Dad to try to be able to focus on being well, and fighting through this, and not have the added worry of how to pay for health insurance, and bills. This money will allow him to pay his bills through the rest of his treatment as he is unable to return to work.
