Brian Tinsley Memorial Fund

Donation protected

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your kind donations and support. We are hosting a memorial to celebrate Brian Tinsley's life at the Columbia Athletic Club in Silver Lake (505 128th St SE Everett, WA 98208) on Sunday, January 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please let us know if you plan on coming by responding to this GoFundMe page.

On December 23, 2019, my hero, Brian Tinsley passed away due to an unexpected complication while recovering from open heart surgery. He leaves behind his wife and my mom, Kathy,  his son Owen, and myself, his daughter.

Anyone who knew Brian knew what a light he brought to the world and everyone around him. He was, and always will be, a kind, selfless and joyful father, husband, son, brother, uncle, son of God, coworker, tennis buddy, lover of 80s music, and friend to so many. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone, and he will always be known for his determination to go the extra mile and how easily he could make anyone laugh. We miss him so much.

Many of you may know that Brian was an aortic dissection survivor, after he collapsed on the tennis courts and had an emergency open heart surgery to replace his ascending aorta in 2003. After this traumatic event, he dedicated his life to serving as a resource and support system for other aortic dissection patients with his website, www.aorticdissection.com. My dad saw his aortic dissection survival as a second chance at life, and he certainly made the most of it as he spent it loving the Lord Jesus, loving life and loving others.

Although I am absolutely devastated to be writing this, I know my dad is not the kind who wants anyone to dwell in misery. He always had a way of finding the light in the dark, and I know if he could be here right now he would give us all who are grieving one of his big bear hugs - the hugs that almost felt just a little too long... but now that he's gone, could never be long enough. I hope my dad's passing can serve as a reminder to truly celebrate life in all of its beauty and all the people that you're blessed enough to love. That's what my dad would want.

My dad was the most generous man I know, and I'm starting this fundraiser to help ease the financial stress of my mother as she takes on the costs related to his passing and the future support  of our family as we navigate this heartbreaking loss. My mother is not the kind who likes to ask for help, but any of your love and support means so much to us. Thank you.
