As many of you already know, Hurricane Dorian decimated the Bahamas. This happens to be the home of cave diver and trainer extraordinaire Brian Kakuk. His life is full of amazing adventures that include being a retired Navy Diver with over 30 years diving experience which lead him to become an author to be able to share his extensive knowledge of safely scuba diving. Brian has gone found time to be a part of several films that feature him as an underwater stuntman.
In addition to serving on the board of the IANTD, he also shares his knowledge of dive safety with all everyone that he possibly can. His concern for safety in diving just never seems to end. Brian has gone on to consult with manufacturers to create safe sidemount diving equipment for entire dive community.
One of Brian’s many passions is the preservation of the Crystal Caves of Abaco where he safely and carefully guides divers through these pristine caves that he has worked so hard to preserve.
Brian calls the Bahamas home and was on the island when Hurricane Dorian made landfall. We just heard this morning that Brian has been located and is in the best possible spirits he can be during such a dire time. Brian has proven, in his life, that he is all about the safety of everyone around him and even for those that are not. While we are sure Brian would follow his own advice and be as safe as he can be, we are absolutely certain that the current conditions on the island will require an enormous amount of resources and time in order to return the island to anywhere close to its previous condition .
There is only so much we can do to prepare for what unpredictable scenarios Mother Nature throws our way. In order to assist Brian and many others who need and want for so many of the basic staples in life right now, we are hoping to help raise as much as we can that will really come in handy in the coming weeks, months and likely even years. The funds raised from this will go to help Brian and many others on this island recover from this tragic event. For as you have read, Brian Kakuk would have it no other way than to make sure he does all he can do for the safety of others.
Thank you for taking time to read about this amazing individual and his life of helping others. Please donate to help out. It truly is a time to pull together and work as a team.
