Brian Humphries Memorial Fund

All of us who knew and loved Brian remember him as a big guy with a big personality.  He had a big heart, a big smile, and a big laugh that, when you heard it, you couldn't help but laugh too.   I first met him in 1998 when we were at Schenck Job Corps in Pisgah Forest, NC.  We clicked instantly, and he quickly became my "protector" and one of my closest friends while I was there.  After Job Corps, we went our separate ways for 11 years.  During that time, both of us went through some difficult circumstances.  But God and Facebook brought us together again in 2010.  We started dating in 2014, and it did not take us long to realize that we wanted to be together for the rest of our lives.  Neither of us ever dreamed that "the rest of our lives" would only be for two and a half short years.  And though we have had our fair share of difficulty in that two years of marriage, I wouldn't change being his wife for anything.  I love him so much, and I always will...my love, my protector, my "baby daddy", my Superman, my hero.   Though my heart aches for missing him, I know that he is safe in the arms of Jesus and he will never know pain or sorrow ever again...which is something he was certainly no stranger to here on Earth.  While my face and my pillow will continue to be soaked with tears for many, many days, weeks, and months to come, knowing that he is happy, and safe, and completely whole in Heaven brings me great comfort.  I look forward to the day when I will see him again there.

All of that being said, we are, unfortunately, finding ourselves in a position where we need to ask for help covering the cost of his burial.  The funeral home is asking for the funds up front, and we are supposed to meet with them at 2pm on Monday, March 26th.  I have been in touch with the funeral home, and they have given me an idea of the cost of the most economic funeral we can manage.  The number we came up with is $7,500.00.  So we are asking that, rather than send flowers, please donate a monetary gift to this Memorial Fund to help cover the expenses.  His burial plot, vault, and the opening and closing of the grave site are already covered.  But the funeral home services, the casket, and the casket spray still need to be paid for.  Any amount is helpful and appreciated.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me (Jessica Humphries) through GoFundMe or Facebook.
