Brian Gassman - Funeral for a Friend

Donation protected
Losing a friend is so hard.  Knowing that Brian Gassman’s family needs financial help now because of his unexpected passing makes it even harder.

They need our help to cover some funeral costs, house bills, medical costs, and Jordan will need things.  The financial stress can be overwhelming.

That’s why I decided to step up start this – hoping to at least be able to get Brian's funeral costs covered.  They would not think to reach out on their own.

I am fairly bad at writing these things ….  so bear with me.

Brian suddenly passed away a few days ago, leaving us way too soon.  He was funny, musical, incredibly kind and a wonderful artist.  He loved everyone.  Most of all, he was a great dad to Jordan.

Jordan's diagnosis of Autism presented Brian and Melissa with many challenges.  With Brian's passing, Jordan is going to need a lot of support, including financial support.  He is a bright, intelligent beautiful young man who loved his dad very very much.

Brian leaves behind so many friends who loved him, his beautiful beloved son, Jordan, Jordan’s mom, Melissa and his girlfriend, Randi.   I cannot imagine what they are going through.

Brian and I met in high school and became instant friends. For many years we were inseparable.  I'm surprised his parents didn't give me my own key to the house.  He was the brother I never had.

We shared a love of our insane circle of friends, music, Monty Python, Vienna Fingers, movies and just generally being weird.  We shared so many moments – watching the METS winning the ’86 season, his love of my dog, camping and canoeing down the Delaware,  going to more concerts than I can count, and driving to and from Syracuse during Hurricane Hugo to see The Stones at the Carrier Dome (sleeping in the car until it passed) – there are hundreds more.

And…. I am still not sure if I forgive you for keeping my original Diamond Dogs album. HA HA HA!

I have never met anyone that did not love Brian. He would do anything for a friend, no questions asked.

Please try to help the family get through this and feel free to share.

May Brian's memory be a blessing to his family and all who knew him.

"Summer's going fast, nights growing colder
Children growing up, old friends growing older
Freeze this moment a little bit longer
Make each sensation a little bit stronger
Experience slips away
Experience slips away
The innocence slips away "
