Roaring Brook Nature Center Trail Stairs Funding

Donation protected
My name is Brian Cunningham, and I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 274 in Avon, Connecticut. I am raising money to help purchase materials for my Eagle Scout Project. My project entails replacing a set of worn outdoor stairs that provide access  to a nature trail just to the left of the entrance of the Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton, CT. I will also be constructing a small gravel swale on the adjacent trail to improve erosion control and making some other improvements to the trail. I am hoping to start the project in Fall 2020.

The Roaring Brook Nature Center offers educational programs for all ages, provides care and rehabilitation for a variety of wildlife, and maintains trails and specialized gardens that are enjoyed by the public. The Nature Center contributes to the community in a meaningful way by spreading awareness and providing educational information about the natural world. I have enjoyed many great experiences at the Nature Center, so I want to help it continue its important mission.

Replacing the weathered wooden stairs with new ones constructed out of studier materials will allow visitors to the Nature Center to access the trail safely for many years to come.

I have created a digital mockup to represent my design for the new stairs. I will be purchasing pressure treated wood, composite decking material, and hardware to construct the stairs and railing. Any support to help my project and the Nature Center would be greatly appreciated!
