Brian Alflen's Memorial Service

When you think of Miller High Life, you probably think of my dad. I'm sure he's shared a few with many of you. Our dad was the most generous and caring man in the world! He devoted his life to helping others and only asked for friendship in return. As a young man, he served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Davis during the Vietnam War as a Boiler Technician. If he ever told you a story of his time on the ship he probably referenced that it was, “hotter than a June Bride” down there. After being honorably discharged, our dad continued in the field of his expertise at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. In addition to the 27 years he spent at the Museum, he also helped family and friends stay cool or warm depending on the crazy weather in Ohio. Work wasn’t the only thing occupying his life; he was also a loving father and friend. His day didn’t end when he got home from work, it was filled with homework questions, fending off numerous phone calls from boys, and playing with the dog. For some much needed relaxation, he took the hour drive to Marblehead to spend time at our vacation home. He met many great people out there who became a second family to us. Our father was loved by many and hated by none, so we need some help giving him the proper send off he deserves. With this tragedy being so sudden, none of us were prepared or ready. We need help from family and friends to honor our dad’s memory. Our dad gave so much to others that he hardly kept anything for himself, which was never a problem, but now we need your help saying goodbye. Any contribution is greatly appreciated no matter the amount. Since my father didn’t have a will, my brother, sister, and I are doing our best to handle the unexpected finances our father leaves behind. We are looking to cover the memorial expenses and the November mortgage payment until we can better plan for the future. Any questions please contact Christine Alflen via Facebook message.
