Breydon Hammer

Donation protected
Breydon was diagnosed with cancer almost 2 years ago. Ependymoma, a type of brain tumor, was the official diagnosis. Breydon passed today due to complications associated with treatment. As you all can imagine friends and family are devastated. Tonight I'm asking for all of us to come together and lift this family up in prayer. I'm asking that you help ease the financial burden this family is facing with medical bills and laying Breydon to rest. I will post the story of Breydon's story below. It details the diagnosis. I want everyone to know that this child was stronger than anyone I have ever met. His faith didn't waiver and he fought with everything he had. He could charm anyone in minutes! He was funny and loving and he was loved beyond measure. His mom fought for him! Day and night she cared for him! And she would argue with me about this but Breydon got his strength form her! Her faith was the platform they stood on! He adored her. He trusted her. He loved her with his whole heart and she him! Please pray for this family and let's help them together.

The diagnosis

Breydon Hammer is a 17 year old Bixby High School student who appeared healthy and active until a few weeks ago. A normal high school student planning his life after graduation. Breydon had some stomach issues over the last year or so but had seen doctors who put him on a couple of stomach medicines and appeared to being doing better. Then in fall he started having headaches that at first he thought were seasonal allergy related. When they didnt ease up his mother Alyson Moten decided to have his eyes checked by their family optometrist. During this routine eye exam the Dr. dilated his eyes and could tell something wasnt normal so he sent Breydon to a team of Opthalmlogists who indeed discovered something was definitely wrong. They sent him to the ER at St Francis Childrens Hospital for immediate evaluation. He has been there since. He has 2 surgeries to remove the tumor which we now know is Ependymoma. It is a very rare tumor only diagnosed to young men Breydons age about 20 times a year worldwide. Breydon has lost lots of weight due to his inabillity to swallow correctly ( a side effect of the surgery that will slowly get better). The Drs. have inserted a stomach tube directly into his stomach and it is helping some. He has spent the last several weeks in PICU at Childrens Hospital and has quickly become a favorite for several of the nurses by his flirty and sweet nature despite the extreme pain. He has speech therapists, physical therapists and a team of Drs. and nurses who are working on his care plans. He has moved from the PICU to the oncology floor.
Another facet to Breydons story is at the time of diagnosis Breydons mother Alyson was 9 months pregnant and on High risk maternity leave from Bixby Public Schools. She was to deliver at another local hospital but due to Breydons condition and her needing to be by his side the wonderful staff at St Francis helped by inducing Alyson at their facility on November 13th allowing Alyson to be with Breydon 3 days later after his first surgery. It has been quite the ordeal juggling baby feeding and lining up babysitters for newborn Meredith so mom can spend up to 12 or more hours per day with Breydon.
Currently we are awaiting a plan of where Breydon will go to recieve the Proton Radiation Beam Therapy to kill any remaining cancer cells. Oklahoma City has the closest center available for this very expensive new technology.
Please consider helping the family by your donation.
And PLEASE keep Breydon on your prayer lists and in your hearts. I will be updating this page and a Pray for Breydon Facebook page with condition updates. Breydon is enjoying your messages. He says he KNOWS GOD has this in control!!
Thank you, Nana Jean Ann
