Lifting Brent Up

Just before our son turned five months old in January 2018, we got the shocking news that Brent's brain tumor had returned 15 years later. It was found at a routine MRI and was not what we were expecting as at 10 years we were told the likelihood of return was almost zero.

After shock and many opinions, the tumor was successfully removed in February at UCSF and was confirmed to be Grade III Ependymoma. After surgery recovery, we headed to Houston for Brent to get proton radiation therapy.

We of course have insurance but unfortunately that doesn't cover the costs of accommodation, transport, food, etc. San Francisco and Houston are both far from home and an infant in the mix makes it all a bit harder and expensive.

We know it isn't easy times for anyone but every little bit will help to keep us afloat and focused on medical care rather than the bank account. Unfortunately, there are very limited assistance options for cancer patients in our age range so we are reaching out to all of you.

Thank you to all who read our story and those who give. We will be sure to pay it forward when we can and can't wait to get back to normal life with our chickens and gardens when this is over.
