Brent Biglin Healing Journey Support Fundraiser

Brent Biglin is an amazing man with a huge heart, who you know is a true friend , dedicated to his work in the Australian Navy and NSM Australia, and a all round top guy.

He is a father to 2 beautiful young children and husband to Amy who they have traveled many years since their teens together.

We ask if you could please support him and his family from this unfortunate situation that is holding his body hostage at this time, with a long road of recovery ahead.

Brent has been fighting for his life and been in an induced coma since Tuesday 26th March 2019.
He started to feel unwell and had tingling/numbness in his feet.
By the time he got to Fiona Stanley emergency room he had collapsed as he couldn't feel his legs from the numbness.

The hospital were quick to act and diagnose him with Guillian Barre Syndrome. (GBS).
It is a neurological disorder that happens when the immune system accidentally starts to attack the nervous system causing full body paralysis to him.

What is Guillain-Barré syndrome?

By Thursday 28th March, he was struggling to breathe on his own and was starting to become numb from the feet to abdomen and losing feeling in his hands.
By Saturday 30th March, Brent had to be put in an induced coma as the GBS had attacked his entire body, he had  collapsed lungs and over the next few days he developed pneumonia on top of this debilitating disorder.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we nearly lost him.

The next few weeks were touch and go as his body attacked itself, putting him on life support and staying in the induced coma to allow his body to rest, heal and function.

He had a tracheotomy placed in to allow better breathing for him with his life support and has been in and out of induced coma consciousness for the past few weeks to see how his body was responding but the pain from the GBS attacking the nerves was too severe to keep him awake.

By Tuesday 16th April he was able to be taken off life support and has now been slowly regaining some of his facial muscles, being able to swallow, talk and move his shoulders.
Physiotherapy has been agonising but Brent is determined to keep working through the pain.

Today, Monday 13th May 2019, is his first day in Long Term Rehabilitation at Fiona Stanley.
He has to learn to use all his body functions again as he is still paralysed from the chest down to his toes and in pain from the nerves.

Having to learn to walk again, use his hands and keep his body stable that the GBS doesn't attack again is the long term goal that we all pray he will be gifted.

Amy has been by his side throughout this entire tragedy and his children are just able to see there Dad now as he is off life support.

Its been an emotional roller coaster for them all and the next hurdles of life are being brought to our forefront.

To further hold and help the Biglin family in this tragic time, they need our financial support.

Brent's medical journey will be long and expensive.

This includes household costs, bills, therapies, house modifications, mobility assist tools.

We are seeking $41,600 - up to $800 per week for the next 12 month period to help support them as we are unsure at this time of Brent's future with his paralysis.

Please give what money you can to support .
We are forever grateful for every donation to make the Biglin family's life easier while they heal and adapt to a different way of life while healing.

Thank you all for your love and support.
