Brenden Rausch's Medical

Donation protected
Brenden Rausch (Reed) first got sick about 10 years ago, he had severe arthritis along with controlled diabetes and pancreatitis. He was unable to work any longer, and we waited to get him on social security for about 5 years. We ended up losing our house and everything as I didn't have any schooling or trade skills beyond high school, and minimum wage doesn't cover much when you have a family to support. After getting him on social security he was able to go to the doctor on a regular basis finally and getting him the medications to help with his arthritis and pain. About 3 years later we learned that ibuprofen and all the different medications for his arthritis was killing his kidneys. He stopped taking all those medications and was able to postpone kidney failure for about a year. He has now been on dialysis for a little over a year and has been trying to get everything checked off the list to be eligible for a transplant. He just turned 43 so he's definitely not to old to be considered. His only obstacle now is the cancer on his leg. He had one surgery on his leg in 2014 and they cut it almost to the bone then skin grafted over it. Unfortunately the cancer came back right above that area in less then 3 weeks. He is now headed to Salt Lake to the University there to have his next surgery as his current doctor thinks there might be more to it then regular skin cancer. These illnesses have had a very profound effect on him physically, mentally, and emotionally. He has difficulty sleeping, and often gets his days and nights mixed up when he does end up sleeping. He was always the bread winner in our house hold and since becoming sick has sunk into depressions because we have so little and there is nothing he can do to help that. We have two great boys, our oldest son is in Arizona working his way through college. And our younger son will be graduating high school this year. I do my best to take care of Brenden and everything as best as I can, but our financial situation isn't good. We get just enough to cover the bills and buy food, and when we have extra expenses I can usually get it out of there some way. If the expenses run higher than I can pay I usually borrow money from family. My debts unfortunately are growing larger than I can afford to pay back within any reasonable about of time. That is why we're asking for help to get Brenden to Salt Lake and get this cancer taken care of. We dream of him being able to get a transplant and getting away from dialysis, but we have to get this done first. We're praying this will be a fairly simple surgery, that it wont go to the bone, and that he'll get to keep his leg. Thank you, and God Bless.
