Brenda's Galway to Ballybay Walk
Donation protected
2 years ago my beautiful friend, Anne Marie Leonard, suffered a spinal stroke, leaving her paralyzed from the breastbone down. She had travelled home to Ireland from Australia as a surprise for her mother’s 70th Birthday party. Her world was turned upside down and she had to adjust to life in a wheelchair while continuing being a Mum to her little one year old boy Tom and a wife to Mark. Her courage and determination every day since is amazing and inspirational. Continuous physio, alternative treatments and weekly visits to the hyperbaric chamber help Anne Marie to ensure she keep her body fit and strong. Anne Marie is in the process of renting out the Exoskeleton with the hope of purchasing it in the future (just a mere €100k!!) It would mean so much for her to be able to "walk" again. Please click on the link below to see her in action. For all you gadget geeks, how awesome is this??!!

I’m planning on “walking” (on a treadmill/on the roads) from Galway to Ballybay in Co Monaghan during the month of November. It is 180km from Corofin which works out at 6km a day. For this unfit, busy Mama, 6km a day for 30 days in a row is quite the challenge! I would really appreciate any donations to this worthy cause. More information on Anne Marie is available on

Finally a big shout out to my sister Trish, fellow ex-Perth buddies, Alicia, and Marie who are doing a similar challenge from the big smoke! “Dublin Bay to Ballybay –21 Day Challenge” (120km)
Thanks in advance
