Friends and colleagues, a dear friend, Brenda Gilchrist, lost her home and her furry friend, kitty cat Kona, in the Coffey Park Santa Rosa fire. It is so devastating for the 8,000+ residents that called this area home. My heart aches for her and her loss.
My name is Kim Dunbar. Brenda and I worked together in Sacramento from 1999 - 2002. We share the same passion for human resources and life. We have remained good friends since. In fact, I distinctly remember our 45 mile bike ride for my 45th birthday in 2012. We rode the country roads, through the vineyards, and ended with a super climb to end the ride through the neighborhood that is now gone.
Brenda was in Italy when the fire happened, so she did not have time to gather any personal belongings. Poor Kona was home alone. It is so sad nothing could be done to help her out.
Brenda has such a good heart — she lives a life of giving and graciousness. Now, she is one of the many in need. She is starting over.
Your generosity will help her to start to rebuild her life and the many memories lost. Brenda is one of the strongest persons I know. She will recover and persevere. This is certain.
Your contributions - 100% - will go directly to Brenda for general living and rebuilding expenses. When Brenda returned from Italy a few days ago she went diectly to her moms, since there was no home to return to. She has no clothes, other than what she had taken to Italy, no personal belongings, no life memorabilia, nothing related to the professional business she has built. Most of this is just "stuff" and can be replaced, but I can't imagine coming back to nothing with no chance to prepare.
