My name is Brenda Hughes Mason and I have been diagnosed with Advanced Heart Failure. My condition has recently worsened, necessitating a more urgent level of care. I am now on a list to receive a heart transplant. The transplant waiting process could last months to years. Pre and Post surgery periods will require a high level of care, resources and support. There will be new financial and logistical challenges. I will face procedural costs, living expenses, medication and personal care I will need throughout the surgery and recovery process.

I am not only fighting for myself, I am fighting for my daughter Whitney who is in her junior year of college. Prior to my diagnosis I served over 20 years as United Way Chair person for my employer, General Mills-West Chicago. I have been committed to helping those in need and servicing my community.

At this vey difficult time Whitney and I are asking for your financial support,  in addition to offset the financial burden we have been faced with.
