Hi: my name is Jane Bethune and I live in Royston in the Comox Valley. Some 27 years ago I met Brenda Boldt and we became friends immediately.
We experienced many highs and lows over the years.
Thank goodness the highs out weighed the lows, but now Brenda is fighting Cancer!
For me this is an extreme low!!
She is to recieve Chemotherapy every two weeks for six months. This is a hellish time for her with all the side effects brought on by the poisons administered to kill the cancer cells! She is hooked up to an intervenous line for 48 hours at the beginning of each session. During these 48 hrs there are 3 pills for her to take to stop the vomiting and heaving that occurs during this time. These 3 pills cost $126.25 twice a month. She also needs $250. a month for pain medication. Due to the onslot of meds, her mucus membranes become enflamed with blisters causing great pain and discomfort. There is a special wash to help with this side effect that cost $267. each time she needs it. Up till now she has not been able to afford this treatment. Fair Pharmacare will not cover any of these cost......imagine that!!
I am asking for help from ours friends and family and anyone who would like to donate to help this wonderful woman get thru the last 3 months of chemo.
As well, I am also asking Brendas close friends to pitch in and help Dennis with a few chores around the farm such as: helping with the horses and firewood. These are things they would normally do together, but now are solely left to Dennis. Our friend Dennis is not getting any younger and could use some help.
During the onslot of chemo Brenda is very weak and with little appetite. She can not get up to make herself meals and unfortunately Dennis is little help in this area.
Any of you ladies out there that would like help with a casserole or some baked goods would be so much appreciated!!
