I am reaching out to you on behalf of my Boss and friend Brenda Bell-Smith. An amazing Boss and dedicated Nursing Director of our ICU.
July of last year Brenda started to have frequent abdominal pain and discomfort for about 2-3 days.
One day while at the hospital working, the pain was getting worse so she decided to call one of our amazing GI doctors and made an appointment to see him the next day. A scan was ordered followed by a series diagnostic studies.
The Results: Brenda found out she has Pancreatic Cancer.
Brenda was ready to fight this disease. She had several treatment of Chemo and Radiation and at the end of her radiation treatment Brenda found out her insurance was cancelled since she was out of work for six months. She had an appoint for her PET scan which was cancel. Unpaid bills are sent to her frequently, which she is unable to pay at present time.
She was then placed on her husband insurance which finally went into effect February 2019 As a result Brenda will be able to have her
PET scan done next week and meet with the surgical team. However there are still unpaid bill that keep coming in. I am hoping that though the GoFundMe Brenda can get some financial help to cover her bills.
I thought this is a great way to support an amazing Nurse who has dedicated her life in helping others though out her career.

Brenda was unable to have surgery at present time and is continuing with chemo therapy. Please continue to support her.
