Helping the Clark Family

Brecken James Clark arrived in the world September 6th, 2013. Labor and delivery went smoothly, and we were blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Due to the Cesarian birth, I was excited to receive an extra two weeks of maternity leave! Living on one income for two months would be tight, but we would make it work.

Feeling blessed and overwhelmed, as all new parents are, we began to settle into our new life as we recovered in the hospital. On September 7th, 2013, our one-day-old stopped breathing, and our whole world stopped. Brecken was air-lifted to OU Children's Hospital in OKC where a team of talented doctors revived our son. The white-knuckled, prayerful drive with my husband from Stillwater to OKC was the longest night of our lives.

We spent two weeks in the NICU. Doctors performed test after test but could not figure out why Brecken had stopped breathing. He continued getting better and we were sent home on a sleep apnea monitor to help prevent any code blues at home. But his apnea monitor continued to alarm

After countless doctors appointments, emergency room visits, hospital stays, and a sleep study, they finally discovered Brecken has two kinds of sleep apnea; the kind where your brain forgets to tell your body to breathe and an obstructive type where your airway collapses while you sleep.

He is now four months old and has had extensive blood work, test after test, and a surgery to remove his adenoids and reshape his upper airway. We are now scheduled for another sleep study and another potential surgery.

Needless to say, this has been a terrifying and heartbreaking experience for our whole family with mountains of unexpected medical bills including hospital stays and medications, along with the cost of food and gas to and from doctors appointments from Cushing to OKC. Since Brecken needs constant care and is still on an apnea monitor, I will not be able to return to work anytime soon. Living on one income was going to be tight, and now it has become impossible to keep our heads above water

Please consider donating, as every little bit helps. Or, if it's not in your budget, please send love and prayers. We appreciate all the support we have gotten from friends and family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We know that God has big plans for our son!
