Hi everyone. Can we start by saying thank you for finding the time to visit our page.
Let us begin by telling you who we are and most importantly who is Brian. Well firstly, we are a group of 8 ladies taking part in this years Womens Mini Marathon to help raise money for our chosen charity. And this is all down to one person and that is Brian.
Brian Maher Jnr. was a beautiful, vibrant and charismatic young man who touched all our lives. On February 23rd 2017, Brian lost his battle for life, two years after his double lung transplant. At age 3, he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. (http://tlc4cf.com/about/ ). He was just 21 years old when he passed away.
As you can imagine it has broken his family’s hearts and all who loved him. That is why we as a group, including Brian’s Mam, Aunt, college friends and close friends have decided, in his honor, to choose TLC4CF as our charity to raise money for.
TLC4CF (Tipperary, Limerick and Clare for Cystic Fibrosis) is a regional branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Ireland who are dedicated to improving services and quality of life for people living with Cystic Fibrosis in the Mid-West of Ireland. They have provided the fundraising and coordinating of a new Adult Cystic Fibrosis unit at University Hospital Limerick, in which Brian himself spent many months out of his year receiving treatment. In his final days with us, he had a peaceful, pain free, dignified passing in the comfort of his bed in one of the new units built. This was due to the loving and professional care of the CF Team and the dedicated efforts of TLC4CF in helping to provide such amazing facilities for people with Cystic Fibrosis. As Brian’s family and friends, we are eternally grateful.
In order for these facilities and services to continue so effectively, continuous fundraising is also critical. That is why today, we are asking you for your help. On the 3rd of June this year, us eight women are taking part in the Ladies Mini Marathon in Dublin in the hope to raise as much money as we can for this well deserving charity. Their on going support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families is something that is so vital and appreciated.
