BISA - Awareness Outreach Campaign 2019
From Sept. 20-23, “The Plastic Surgery Meeting” will bring together the world’s most brilliant surgeons from 73 countries around the globe. The four-day event will educate, connect and inform domestic and international plastic surgeons. The mission of the conference is to prioritize the improvement of patient care and outcomes.
That’s where we step in.
Your donations will assist the Breast Implant Safety Alliance (BISA) to better inform surgeons everywhere about breast implant safety from the prospective of patients that have experienced breast implant illness. We'll travel to San Diego to increase awareness, provide facts and share our stories about breast implant risks. The funding will allow us to form our own booth in their exhibition hall - where surgeons will be able to directly listen to our experiences. At our other events, we will also be raising awareness about adverse events reported to the FDA and the Medical Device Safety Act.
In 2017, the FDA saw over 4,000 injury reports related to breast implants. By 2019, there were more than 90,000 women reporting a range of symptoms referred to as “breast implant illness” on two Facebook pages: Breast Implant Illness and Healing by Nicole and Breast Implant Victim Advocacy. We speak on behalf of the women who aren’t able to be at the conference. We speak because we would like to open the floor to the real issues that real women are facing when it comes to their breast implants. It’s imperative that we make ourselves heard, and we need your help to make it happen!
Please aid us in funding our presence at the event, which will allow greater recognition for breast implant survivors everywhere. All donations will be put towards:
-Printing supplies and operating costs for awareness outreach project, and our supplies needed for the booth at the exhibit hall.
-Travel expenses for our admin team
UPDATE 9/3/19: Any additional or left over funds will be used in setting up our organization/non-profit as well as additional/future trips.
