The first day I saw Lisa I knew she was special. The second time I saw her, we became inseparable. Two weeks after that, I told her I was going to spend the rest of my life with her. Lisa is my best friend, life partner, and happy thought, and she was recently diagnosed with Stage II Breast Cancer at 31 years old.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting Lisa, I guarantee your day was improved. There’s just something incredible about her spirit that radiates positivity to everyone around her. If you’ve ever had a conversation with her, somewhere in the midst you realize that no matter how obscure or weird the topic is, she is always intently listening, completely present, and ready to share in your joy and passions.
Lisa’s breast cancer diagnosis has been especially devastating, as she recently put her job on hold in order to dive head first into an intensive coding bootcamp and pursue her dream of a fulfilling career in computer programming. We had to cut back on spending, and we were going to be fine living off of my income and some of our savings until February. Everyone knows that healthcare is incredibly expensive but treatments and diagnostic tests are so much more costly than we could have imagined, even with good insurance.
She is going to beat cancer and everything is going to be okay, but it’s going to be a long road to recovery. We’re looking at several months of chemotherapy, then a double mastectomy surgery and reconstruction, then several months of radiation treatment.
We are desperately in need of financial help. I am starting this GoFundMe because so many amazing friends have asked what they can do. Lisa deserves the absolute best and I will do anything to give it to her, including asking for donations on the internet. There is no possible way I can make enough on my own to provide the care she needs.
