Breast Cancer Survivor Reconstruct

Donation protected

My name is Holly F. and I am a 45 year old breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed over 2 years ago with having an aggressive form of breast cancer, her2nu  positive stage 2.  My world stopped in its tracks. I was fearful for my life yet at the same time felt "ticked off" in a sense and was determined to beat this nasty disease no matter what it took. I became a fierce lady , that I had no idea was inside me. I told God, I am not ready yet, so began the fight of my life!!

I was blessed to be given treatment at the wonderful UCSD cancer center. I qualified for and participated in multiple clinical trial drugs, as well as your traditional chemo, radiation, and surgery. At every fork in the road I chose the more difficult treatment option as I was willing to go to any lengths necessary to help make sure I would never be in this same situation again.

Yes the process was very, very hard....but I was blessed to have an amazing support group with God, family and friends. They never left my side and never let me get discouraged. I feel proud of how I handled myself through these trying times. Hell I even mantained my sobriety through all this and celebrated 6 years earlier this year!

By the time my infusion treatment was finishing up, I had to make a decision about my surgery. At the urging of multiple doctors I elected to go with a double lobectomy instead of a double masectomy. I'll be honest, I really wanted the later, but it was the first time during the course of treatment where both of my doctors gave me their opinion as to which surgery I should have, so I went with their suggestion. I am pleased to announce it went well and even though I continue with daily medications and bi-monthly injections, I AM OFFICIALLY CANCER FREE!!!!!!

While that is what matters most, I was very disheartened when I learned that full reconstruction would not be covered by insurance, despite earlier assurances that they would do so. Obviously this is tough for me to talk about openly, but to sum it up I just am sick of seeing "reminders" on a daily basis that I was stricken with cancer....yes I am beyond grateful I beat this aggressive disease and that I am slowly starting to feel like myself again. I am continuing to take arimidex and nerlynx( the new fda approved cancer drug) which still take their toll as did the super intense infusion treatments..but I also want to be able to close this chapter of my life.

I am attempting to raise money to help me pay for a total double reconstruction. I've already found a wonderful doctor and have saved up a third of the cost myself. ANY DONATION NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL WOULD TRULY BE AMAZING - it would be a life changing event for me to finally get the reconstruction done that I want so badly to continue the healing process. Mentally and physically .
The money will go towards doctor bills and expenses.

Thank you for taking the time to reading and considering my continuing journey .

If there are any surplus money, all funds will be to help other men and women in their fight against cancer!

So please, if you can, help this Texan woman raise the funds to get her "El Capitan Mountains" back!
