Braylen's Wish

Braylen Berthrong is a seven-year-old girl that was diagnosed with atypical Rett Syndrome at an early age. Rett Syndrome is a rare non-inherited genetic neurological disorder that occurs primarily in girls. Rett Syndrome leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of a child’s life. Braylen is unable to speak, walk, and do most things that an ordinary six-year-old child can. Although Braylen is different, she is a sweet and loving little girl. She is full of personality, has an infectious laugh, and is adored by many! Braylen loves to watch Care Bears on TV and lights up when she sees her family. Braylen lives in King, NC with her mother (Dawn Berthrong), grandmother (Shirley Berthrong), and brother (Brighton Berthrong). Braylen currently shares a bedroom with her mother and does not have adequate space for her medical equipment and supplies. Braylen is a growing girl and her needs are also growing! Braylen desperately needs a bedroom of her own that will meet her special needs. The Berthrong family would like to enclose their carport to create a bedroom for Braylen. The Berthrong family is struggling financially and cannot afford a big project such as this. Members of the community including myself are working diligently to raise donations to make Braylen’s wish for a new bedroom come true.
