It absolutely breaks our heart to even post this and ask for these prayers, but we have had the longest and toughest week of our lives. 

 

A few weeks ago, Brayden's left eye started swelling which we thought was allergies or something harmless. Well, his eye swelled up really bad last week to the point it is bulging and then the side of his head started swelling as well. Tuesday morning, we woke up and just knew we needed to get him seen. Brandon took him to the Children's Emergency Room in Atlanta... which has turned into such a nightmare because we have received the worst possible news. 

 

Upon arriving, they were immediately concerned about his eye, then they did blood work which showed some concerning things as well... then they did a physical exam and discovered a mass in his belly. 

 

Today, they did the MRI and confirmed their fears. Brayden has neuroblastoma. He has two tumors (that they can see so far). He has a 10cm by 8cm tumor in his belly that is wrapped around major blood vessels, his kidney and adrenal gland, which makes it inoperable at the time. The tumor in his head is 5cm. They said it is high risk and aggressive. It is considered stage 4 cancer. 

 

Tomorrow, he will undergo surgery to get a biopsy, place a central venous line (basically a port), and take a bone marrow sample. He will have his first round of chemo tomorrow as well. His full treatment plan is estimated to take about 2 years. 

 

We know God is a mighty God and He can heal this. He can heal anything. We pray that it is His will to keep Brayden with us on this Earth, but as time goes on we will see how he reacts to the treatment. He has such a long road ahead of him and we appreciate all the prayers we can get!
