This is Kim, a beautiful woman who has lost her smile...why?
She not only lost her husband 3 years ago but was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Who is Kim?
She is a very vibrant, funny, loving, giving and hard working person. Not only is she a mother, but a grandmother and a fabulous friend. She is a dedicated medical office assistant for 2 surgical otolaryngologists at Alberta Health Services. Even though she started treatment which means; headaches, nausea, irritable bowel, and even hair loss she is still at work as many hours a week she is feeling up to as well as baking and bringing us treats.
She is someone who puts others first and so there are a few co-workers who are ready to shave their heads in her support, to help raise funds for many things not covered for by her insurance company. She has only just begun this battle and will incur all kinds of expenses for cancer treatment ie: a wig (due to total hair loss), breast prosthesis (for when she has her mastectomies), special bras (designed to fit the prosthesis), there is also an injection that she will most likely need to help boost her immune system during her final treatments that are $1500 each and she will require 3 of them.
Not only will these funds help her with the financial burden of all her cancer treatment needs but also to let her know that she is NOT ALONE, she has a squad behind her all the way.
I know if this was to happen to me or someone else she cared about, she would do all that she could. Already she bakes us cookies, tarts and cakes EVERY week and is always quick to lend an ear or helping hand. She sewed a blanket for my neice's baby that she's never met and last year she sewed 2 quilts to raise money for mental health awareness and is now starting a new quilt to raise money for a breast cancer charity.
This is an UNBELIEVABLE woman that has helped so many and so now she needs our HELP!
Our goal is to raise $5000 and once we have been successful there will be a HEAD SHAVE and I mean who doesnt want to see a head shave?! Tentative date: Sept 29, 2017
