Boyle McCauley Health Centre, Boyle McCauley Dental Centre and Avenue Christian Reformed Church care about the people of our community. We would like everyone to have a chance at a healthy quality of life.
Please support this specific need with your financial giving and prayers. Any funds not needed for Bratt will be used to help others gain access to dental care they otherwise couldn’t afford at the Boyle McCauley Dental Centre.
This is Bratt.
She has led a very hard and difficult life that often included periods of starvation. Eating newspaper to stave off hunger pangs, malnourishment, poor dental care and hormonal changes have contributed to the loss of her teeth and degeneration of her jaw bone. Without bone structure to support dentures, Bratt is not able to eat solid foods intensifying other health issues. In addition, she has an allergy to denture adhesives. They cause sores in her mouth making it next to impossible to wear them. Her self-confidence is reduced because of esthetics and inability to properly speak.
There is hope! Dental surgery to rebuild her jaw followed by implants, will give her the ability to eat solid foods, improve her overall health and regain some self-confidence. However, the cost is high. The surgery for her upper jaw alone requires $32,000. The lower jaw will be over $20,000. Although Bratt receives AISH, they will not fund any of the procedure. Alberta Health Care will cover the initial jaw surgery but nothing more.
