Brantley’s Decompression Brain Surgery
Donation protected
Brantley was born with a rare condition called Chiari Malformation type 1. It was through a lot of medical issues and hospitalizations that this was discovered. Chiari malformation is a brain condition in which part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. This puts pressure on the parts of the brain and spinal cord, and can cause mild to severe symptoms. In Brantley’s case, it has affecting his ability to swallow (he has a GJ feeding tube), his breathing, his balance, his depth perception, muscle weakness and headaches. The most severe of the issues is his spinal fluid it currently blocked. He is in desperate need of brain decompression surgery which is scheduled for May 19, 2020 in Dallas, Texas.
Brantley’s parents and family have worked tirelessly to provide the best care possible for him. He is the Biggest Blessing in our family. Despite all his conditions, he is always smiling and happy. Brantley has medical insurance and his father, Michael works, where he accepts all the overtime possible. Hannah, Brantley’s mom, is a stay at home mom who is always providing the best care possible for Brantley. Before the Covid-19, she was taking Brantley to all his therapy appointments (speech, feeding and occupational therapy) and countless doctors appointments. Brantley has spent numerous visits in the hospital with pneumonia. We are currently asking for donations to help ease the financial burden on the family. The money will help the family with travel expenses, food and hotel for the week of his surgery. He will be in the hospital for 5-7 days after his brain surgery. His Nanny, Sharon, Papaw Bryan and Aunt Haley will be be traveling with the family to Dallas for his surgeon. If you can help we appreciate it, if you are not able to donate we ask you to share the post and create awareness for Chiari Malformation. Also, I ask for prayers for my sweet great nephew, his family, his surgeon, Dr. Ian Heger and medical staff in Dallas! Thank you!
