On January 12, 2018, we all suddenly lost a special person close to all of our hearts, Melanie Kampes Armiger (Age 37). The person closest to her was her 9 year old son, Brandon. She loved him to the moon and back. We know her wish would be to have the best for her little man. To honor Melanie the family has set up a fund to be used for Brandon's future education/career plans. We hope with your gracious contributions Melanie's gracious heart can live on in Brandon's future. Thanks.
The Life of Melanie Anne Armiger
Melanie was born on April 12, 1980, she was a beautiful baby. When she was a toddler she had beautiful blonde hair, a sweet face, always smiling, and very smart. At two years old, while we were eating dinner, her father told her to pick up her toys that she was playing with in the hallway. She replied, "excuse me, I am eating, don’t bother me right now" Needless to say, nobody could frazzle Melanie, even at an early age.
Melanie had some medical issues at an early age but despite these adversities she was a very happy child. She was a rather good student in school and could pass tests without studying. She sometimes thought she could do anything she put her mind to doing.
She was very talented in the music field. She didn’t pay much attention to what was said in church, but she loved the music. She would memorize the music and come home, sit down at the piano and play it right away by ear. She went on to play the flute and played in both the concert and the Marching Bands at Dulaney High School. While she was in high school she went to work for a beauty salon as a shampoo girl and was very well liked by the owner and all the staff.
Then she decided she wanted to become a volunteer Fire fighter at Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Company. She found her compassion and learned how to be a fire fighter and even later went to Essex Community College to get a certificate as an EMT/Paramedic. This became her passion to help people. She thrived on helping people. She eventually went to work for a private ambulance company where she unfortunately ended up having a major back injury on the job but still persevered. Later she went to work for the Baltimore County Fire department while still volunteering at Cockeysville Fire Company.
Melanie had many friends at the Volunteer fire company because she was so friendly and humorous. She met her husband, a 911 Dispatcher, while working in the fire department. They got married in 2007 and conceived a sweet boy, Brandon, in 2008.
When Melanie was no longer able to continue in the Emergency services field, things weren’t looking up for her yet she found a position at a pediatrician’s office where all the families commented she was so compassionate and caring for their children. It was hard to give up a career that she enjoyed and had so much passion for, yet she found another medical way to use her skills.
The one person that kept her going was her son, Brandon, who she truly loved and still does, now that she is in heaven. Even though things weren’t going her way she picked herself up by the boot straps, and went back to school to become a nurse, because she always wanted to help people. While in school she started working at Pizza Hut delivering pizza’s to provide for Brandon.
Brandon is joyful 9 year old who excels in math. He is outgoing and friendly child who loves to talk with those he comes in contact with.
We look forward to helping Brandon achieve his dreams through this campaign. We know this was very important to Melanie.
